Crusher Dust / Sand Base:
For round tanks. The sand or dust must be well contained to ensure it will not be undermined by water run off etc.

Pre-cast Concrete Pavers: Suitable for when the ground is already flat and stable. Lay the pavers on a 50mm dry mix of sand and cement. Ensure they are level and stable.

Concrete Slab:
Always the best long term solution for your new water tank. A well laid concrete slab min 100mm thick with reinforcing mesh ensures the base will last as along as the tank.

Tank Stand:
The stand and footing should be engineered to take the intended weight. A less expensive option is to make the tank taller and add a bucket tap.

1. You should locate your water tank somewhere near an existing gutter down pipe to feed water into your tank
2. You prepare a flat pad to sit your water tank on. This would ideally be a base of pavers or concrete but can also be compacted gravel or even packing sand for round tanks.
   
3. Covering the base with black plastic sheeting to prevent the tank being undermined in the event of torrential rain. The black plastic sheeting is available upon request or at your local hardware store.
4. A firm stable platform that must be of dimensions larger than the tank. Alternatively a properly constructed stand capable of carrying the weight of the tank when full, i.e. 1kg per litre. 
   
5. You run a PVC pipe from your gutter downpipe into the top of your tank
6. You may wish to run a pipe into your stormwater to carry off excess water when the water tank is full
7. You attach your water gauge and your tap fitting
8. You attach a garden hose to your tap fitting
